The King George/Mayfair Park Channel Improvement project addressed critical drainage issues along an existing channel adjacent to residential properties in the City of Manchester. Two Alpha Contracting was contracted by the City to execute this project, which aimed to improve stormwater management, prevent erosion, and enhance the riparian corridor.

The project encompassed the improvement of approximately 495 linear feet of the existing drainage channel, utilizing roughly 0.85 acres of land. This involved re-grading and replanting the area to optimize drainage, halt channel incision (a source of stormwater pollution), reduce bank heights, decrease stormwater flow velocities, and ultimately prevent erosion on both the project site and neighboring properties. A key focus was to enhance the riparian corridor, improving the aesthetic appeal and ecological function of the residents’ backyards.

The successful completion of the King George/Mayfair Park Channel Improvement project resulted in significant benefits, including effective erosion prevention, noticeable aesthetic improvements, and enhanced flood mitigation capabilities for the City of Manchester and its residents.
